200-word bio
Sarah Stones is a Motivation Specialist, coach and TEDx speaker, and she will stop you right there if you call her a “motivational speaker”: she isn’t one, and she’s firm about it. Motivation, she says, is an inside job, and her job is helping you find yours.
After more than 20 years in HR, and a brush with breast cancer that convinced her life was too short to keep doing something she didn’t love, Sarah founded Plain Sailing Motivation in 2015. She combines her HR background with positive psychology and a Licensed Practitioner qualification in Motivational Maps® to help individuals, teams and organisations work out what fuels them, because as she likes to point out, cars need fuel and phones need charging, and people are not all that different.
She’s worked with the NHS, AstraZeneca, schools and charities across the UK and beyond, sits on Employment and PIP Appeal Tribunal panels, and is a member of the Professional Speakers Association and a ten-year Toastmaster. She’s also sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, which, she will tell you, was not plain sailing.
Sarah lives with cerebral palsy, uses a wheelchair, and dislikes being called “inspirational.” Audiences still keep calling her that anyway.
